Pouilly Fumé at Loire Valley! Heaven of Sauvignon Blanc.

When I met an oenologist Anne-Sophie Figeat, daughter of Andrè, it was a beautiful sunrise at this appellation next to famous Sancerre. Everybody remembers moments when wine experience truly hits a spot. This happened to me at fresh cool early morning at Domaine Figeat in September 2021.

Pouilly Fumé wines are more broader and mineral wines with hint of smokiness coming from flint (silex) soil. Domaine Figeat produces trademark Pouilly Fumé Sauvignons with full, mineral and fruity characters now on 9th generation.

Ferdinand, Edme et Louis Figeat

André represents the 9th Edmond´s generation. His father has transmitted him the respect of terroir and the patience that allow harvesting the grapes at good maturity.

Before him, his father Ferdinand worked with his brother Edme, assisted by their father Louis Figeat.

Over the decades, Figeat has acquired parcels after parcels exceptional lands that reveal a Sauvignon grape, where typical, freshness and delicacy are mixed. Currently they own 17 hectares at Pouilly sur Loire.
