When it was time to select a wine for home made reindeer file with lingonberry sauce and roasted potatoes with garlic and thyme, an Amarone was a good choice. I had a couple of bottles of Amarone as a souvenir from visiting at David Sterza winery (see wblog). It was time to open one of these beauties.   Vintage was 2012 so decanting lasted this time about 3 hours. This time seemed to be sufficient and wine did not feel too young.

In this nectar of gods, there were a lot of berries and chocolate with rounded tannins. All elements were in very good balance. Alcohol content was as high as  16% but I did not notice that on nose or palate.

Reindeer file with smooth lingonberry sauce and big mouthful of Amarone and it will blow your mind.
